Saint V – or Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen – is the enlightened mind who, on 20 November 1834, founded the Free University of Brussels. Every year, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) still celebrate their joint Saint V.
Darolus refers to VUB colleagues Dario Van de Voorde, Rob Vandereycken and Luc De Vuyst. They combined the expertise of the Industrial Microbiology and Food Biotechnology research group with their passion for brewing beer.
Darolus offers two VUB beers:
- Darolus Tripel – an authentic and smooth tripel with a distinctly quirky character.
- Darolus Sour – an authentic and complex blend of Darolus Tripel and lambic (60% Darolus Tripel and 40% lambic).
